KHERSON. IF IT DOESN'T KILL YOU by Edward Kaprov - 24 minutes - 2026
A co-production by ARTE G.E.I.E.

SYNOPSIS
April 2026. For two weeks, filmmaker Edward Kaprov lived alongside the last remaining residents of Kherson, in southern Ukraine. Located on the frontline, the city stretches along the Dnieper River, a fragile border separating it from its Russian enemies stationed on the left bank. Russian drones lurk, insidiously sowing death as they conduct a manhunt through the streets of the destroyed city. And the residents simply carry on with their lives. Edward Kaprov has captured moments of everyday life. With his delicate and discreet camera, he has gathered the testimonies of those he encountered to understand what it means to live without knowing if you will still be alive the next day.

Photographer and filmmaker Edward Kaprov was born in Russia and migrated to Israel in the early 1990s. For more than twenty years, he has been practising documentary photography and collaborating with National Geographic, Geo and El País, among others. His work speaks of the shattered ideals of his adopted country and his motherland... His reports seek to illustrate the inhumanity and absurdity of the world, documenting in particular the Israeli army, Palestinian demonstrations and orphanages in Chechnya.
