SYNOPSIS
One year after the start of the Georgian people's uprising, the country is holding its breath. The latest municipal elections on 4 October once again revealed widespread fraud across the country, with all the ruling party candidates elected with scores worthy of autocratic states. Many now fear a complete shift towards authoritarianism, and the thousands of women and men, young and old, who have been demonstrating every day for more than 300 days dread the imposition of a state of emergency. Alongside the mothers of political prisoners and students mobilised to defend their freedom, Manon Loizeau documents Georgia's attempts to resist the steamroller of repression.

Born in London in 1969, daughter of ‘committed parents’ and sister of musician Émily Loizeau, Manon Loizeau is a French journalist and documentary filmmaker, author of numerous documentaries in high-risk areas. A great champion of ‘oppressed peoples,’ this admirer of 1990s Russia has made Vladimir Putin the undisputed master of her grand pantheon of horror.
